Synopsis

Tides of Resilience is a raw, unforgettable memoir of survival, trauma, and the long road to healing.

From the sun-soaked beaches of Thailand to the shadowy corners of addiction and grief, John Bromfield retraces his journey through the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami — a moment that changed everything. What begins as a tale of travel and friendship becomes a harrowing account of disaster, guilt, and the quiet devastation that follows survival.

Told with brutal honesty and flashes of unexpected humour, this is a story about confronting the past, making peace with memory, and discovering that resilience doesn’t mean being unbreakable — it means learning how to rebuild

From the Back Cover

Tides of Resilience is a raw, emotionally charged memoir that charts one man's journey from trauma and addiction to healing and self-discovery.
John Bromfield survived the deadliest natural disaster in history, but that was just he beginning.
On 26th December 2004 a wall of water tore through paradise and changed everything. What followed was a far more insidious tsunami: one of undiagnosed PTSD, addiction, ignorance, shame and silence.
Tides traces his two decade journey from the beaches of Thailand to the therapy rooms of London. From self-destruction to sobriety. From being lost in memory to learning how to live in the present.
This is not just a memoir of what happened. It's a story about what it means to survive.
