ABC of Democracy

A is for Activism, B is for Ballots, C is for Country. An ABC of Democracy introduces complicated concepts surrounding politics and government to the youngest of children.

Everyone has the right to be treated fairly, no matter who they are, what they look like, or where they come from. From A to Z, simple explanations accompanied by engaging artwork teach children about the world we live in and how to navigate our way through it.

Each right-hand page includes a brightly decorated letter with the word it stands for and an encouraging slogan. On the left, a colorful illustration and bite-size text sum up the concept. Cheerful people from a range of backgrounds, ethnicities, and abilities lead the way through the alphabet.

• F is for Freedom. We all deserve to be free to choose.
• N is for Need. Democracy needs everyone’s participation to run at its best.
• Q is for Questions. Go ahead and ask!
• V is for Voting. Everyone should be able to have their say.

A follow-up to the best-selling An ABC of Equality, this beautiful book will teach the youngest of readers about liberty and justice for all.
