Item description from seller

Fourth edition of one of the most influential cocktail books of all time. Includes early appearances of classic cocktails, many of which "Harry of the New York Bar in Paris, and Late of Ciro's" is either credited with inventing or first publishing. 24mo red cloth boards stamped in black on front cover only; tabbed alphabetic index printed in red and black; 109 pages interspersed with ads. Very good to near fine with spine slightly cocked; in good dust jacket with damp stain to verso just slightly visible as faint shadow on front panel and showing a hint of pink on spine (due to internal offset from boards), rubbed creasing, two large chips (just taking out the "2" in price at head of spine), several smaller ones, and old external tape repair to bottom edge rear panel. Increasingly scarce in early editions in any shape.

Store description

The Quill & Brush was established in 1976 by Allen and Patricia Ahearn as an open store carrying first editions and fine art. At present it is by appointment only and housed in the home of the Ahearn's eldest daughter, Beth Ahearn Fisher, who is carrying on the family bookselling tradition. Our current stock of approximately 3,500 books consists mainly of first editions of American and English Literature including Mysteries and Detective Stories, Science Fiction, Children's and Illustrated Books. We also collectible books in all fields. Over the years, we have published more than 200 individual Author Price Guides; and Allen and Patricia authored the well-regarded books on book collecting, "Collected Books: The Guide to Identification and Values" (4th ed., 2011) and "Book Collecting 2000: A Comprehensive Guide." Please contact us at firsts@QBbooks.com to be placed on our e-list for notifications of website sales and new arrivals or to request our occasional printed catalog.…
