Each kind of record has value for the genealogist. Prior to 1777, all probate records were required to be filed with the Prerogative Court of Maryland. Abstracts of the inventories herein cite the following: Name of the decedent; Liber and folio reference; County; Amount cited in the inventory; Name(s) of the appraiser(s); Name(s) of the creditor(s); Name((s) of the next of kin; Name(s) of the executor/administrator; Name(s) of other persons mentioned, except the persons cited in the list of debts.".
