unpaginated prelims+146+5 (pub.list)+large unfolding map attached to back pastedown, 20 ills on 12 pp. ex-pagination; from p.103 onwards the bottom outers corners are affected by reddish-brown water staining of varying degrees of severity and this corner of back endpaper is torn off (c. 1 cm square missing), the cream board covers are mostly quite clean but bottom spine and bottom outer corner of back water-stained as before (as is corresponding corner of rear pastedown, map seems unaffected however and is in excellent condition), bottom edges of cover quite rubbed in places exposing underlying board; unclipped jacket quite clean and bright on front and back, though front has a fairly innocuous brownish mark to front edge, spine a little darkened but more seriously both ends are chipped, more so bottom and there is a small chip top front beside spine, a few other minor nicks and rubbings. Despite the faults, a generally clean and quite unmarked copy of this rather scarce work full of post-independence enthusiasm for the culture and character of the various indigenous peoples of the North East frontier region.
