Account of a journey from China to Europe through Northern Asia in the spring and summer of 1893. ppXII+240 plus 4pp of publisher advertisements; with portrait frontispiece (a tissue-guarded mounted photograph), folding map in three segments, and full-page & in-text illustrations. Original tan cloth, backstrip titled in gilt, front cover with title in gilt & black and Russian imperial eagle in black. Pale yellow endpapers. Backstrip a little darkened, and lightly rubbed at head and foot. Outer corners of covers lightly bumped and/or a little curled, and a little rubbed at tips. Some minor cloth-lift towards lower outer corner of front cover. Endpapers split along hinges. No dust jacket. Top edge of text-block age-toned, other edges lightly so.
