617 pages, 793 color and 53 b/w photographs, 8 maps. Catalogue for the 1995 exhibitioon at London's Royal Acadey of Arts. Cloth cover, small folio size (10"x12"). The first nationwide celebration of the arts of Africa ever to be held in Great Britain (Africa '95) had as its center piece this dazzling ehibiton held in late 1995 at the Royal Academy of Arts. Spectacular masterworks, drawn mainly from collections in Africa, Europe, and the U.S. were selected for their aesthetics. In this sumptious catalogue of the exhibition, more than 700 of these works are splendidly illustrated in large photographs, arranged into seven geographical areas, each in a chronological sequence, and each accompanied by an essay written by a regional specialist.
