All four catalogues unmarked and in excellent condition As the founder of the Enitharmon Press, Clodd possessed an astonishing number of "association copies" inscribed, corrected, or annotated directly by the authors. His collection reflects intimate relationships with giants like Samuel Beckett, Seamus Heaney, and Kathleen Raine. He collected the entire history of small, influential literary presses. The Irish literature catalogue (Part 1), for example, was special because it offered complete, exhaustive runs of scarce publications from the Dolmen Press, tracking the physical evolution of modern Anglo-Irish poetry.Furthermore Maggs designed these catalogues to read like bibliographies. Because Clodd was known for tracking down variant bindings, rare proof copies, and ephemera (such as program broadsides and private letters), the item descriptions provided scholars with new bibliographical data on modern first editions that had never been documented before.
