La prima foto di questo album evocato ritrae il narratore a nove anni, schierato con i suoi compagni di scuola, e lo fa ripensare a quel Borlotto, di famiglia povera, taciturno e impacciato, che era “l’asino della classe”. La seconda, simbolo di un rimorso tra i pi� cocenti, lo riporta alla nonna materna, affezionatissima a lui, ma crudelmente bistrattata a sette anni durante una festicciola di bambini. La terza � per una ragazzina conosciuta in un collegio di montagna, nei confronti della quale il protagonista attua una vera e propria persecuzione. E ancora: una compagna dall’amore limpido e generoso, abbandonata per altre egoistiche fascinazioni, uno zio concertista misconosciuto, solitario e snob, trascurato proprio alla fine della sua vita. I genitori, verso i quali il senso di inadeguatezza � pi� pesante e non lascia scampo. Queste sono solo alcune istantanee di una galleria di fotografie tenute insieme da un unico elemento: il rimorso. Quello verso familiari, amici, o anche semplici conoscenti, nei confronti dei quali il narratore si � macchiato di piccole crudelt�, comportamenti insensibili e omissioni. Un racconto che, come un filo sapientemente intrecciato, attraversa e lega ritratti e aneddoti, un flusso di coscienza privo di compiacimenti, estroso e sarcastico, interrotto solo – o scandito – dalle battute irridenti di un misterioso, implacabile accusatore.
