Depending upon the layout, some of the articles from this publication may contain a copied first or last page. Cyrus K. Holliday was a a novice at city planning, as were his companions, a handful of farmers, merchants, and craftsmen from the East. Their amateur status notwithstanding, they founded the city of Topeka, which would become the capital of the new state of Kansas and the home of Holliday's Santa Fe Railroad.
