When his military life was done he settled in Rome and wrote in Latin a history of the Roman empire in the period A.D. 96-A.D. 378. Only 31 books covering A.D. 353-378 survive. They are a accurate and impartial record of his own times. "He includes economic and social affairs. We get from him clear indications of the fall of the Roman empire." All books are individually examined and described. Never ex-library unless explicitly described as such.
