AMSSM Sports Medicine CAQ Study Guide

This comprehensive resource from the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine provides two complete tests with answers, explanations, and up-to-date references. Each test features 200 questions that were initially used to evaluate recent graduates of primary care sports medicine fellowship programs. The tests can be used by physicians studying for the Certificate of Added Qualifications exam or fellows studying for their In-Training Examinations. Stephen Paul, M.D., CAQSM, is an assistant professor at the University of Arizona. He is board-certified in family medicine and holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. He has published in Athletic Training & Sports Health Care, Sports Health, The 5-Minute Sports Medicine Consult, Clinical Journal of Sport Medicine, and Saunder s Manual of Medical Practice. He worked with the AMSSM to develop the first sports medicine In-Training Exam and is co-chair of the AMSSM In-Training Exam subcommittee.

Scott Rand, M.D., FAAFP, CAQSM, is an assistant clinical professor in family and community medicine with Weill Cornell Medical College and is the director of the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship for the Methodist Hospital System in Houston, Texas. He is board-certified in family medicine and completed his Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine in 1999. He has published articles in American Family Physician, Journal of Family Practice, Family Practice Management, and Current Sports Medicine Reports. He is co-chair of the AMSSM In-Training Exam subcommittee and was instrumental in the development of the testing process for the test that is now used by virtually all primary care sports medicine fellowships in the country.

Mark Stovak, M.D., FAAFP, FACSM, CAQSM, is the program director for both the Family Medicine Residency and the Sports Medicine Fellowship programs at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita (KUSM-W) and Via Christi Hospitals. He is on the AMSSM board of directors and is the chair of the AMSSM Fellowship Committee.

Marc P. Hilgers, M.D., Ph.D., is an associate assistant professor at the University of South Florida and a clinical educator for the University of Tampa. He is board-certified and a diplomate for family medicine. He received his Certificate of Added Qualification after completing a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at the renowned Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. He has been writing articles in peer-reviewed publications and has written chapters for sports medicine books. He has been contributing to the sports medicine In-Training Exam since its beginning and is a member of the international, educational, and In-Training Exam subcommittees for the AMSSM.
