Small 12mo, approximately 140 x 70 mm, 5 x 2¾ inches, letterpress title pages dated 1634, plus added engraved title pages dated 1816 with vignette and engraved frontispiece to each volume, folding woodcut illustration of the round table before printed title page in Volume 1, pages: Volume 1: iii, iv-xxiv, vi, 25-326; Volume 2: xv, [2], 18-382, last page blank; Volume 3: xvi, 17-110, (111*-114* extra inserted pages), 111-378, last page blank, pages xxiv, vi in Volume 1 contain "The preface of William Caxton, to the Christian reader", "The prologue of William Caxton" and the Advertisement (account of respective editions of Prince Arthur and warning the public about the defects of a "rival" 2 volume edition), bound in half dark calf over marbled boards, gilt lettering and decoration to spines, marbled endpapers. Binding rubbed and slightly scuffed and faded, slight wear to head of spines, small hairline crack to head of Volume 2, marbled boards heavily rubbed with loss to marbled paper, shelf wear to edges of covers, all outer hinges slightly tender, age-browning to engraved title pages and frontispieces, outer margins trimmed away to engraving in Volume 3, no loss to images, small tear to top of page 149 in Volume 1 running into text with loss of 2 words to verso and abrasion to 3 lines underneath with loss of another 4 words, slight stainng to inner margin of title page in Volume 3, and staining to last 3 blank page plus 30mm (2 inch) closed crack to upper hinge, occasional pale foxing, white bookplate to each first pastedown with name cossed out in ink, a good set only. 2 editions were published in 1816, the first to be printed since 1634.
