Black & gilt illustrated and lettered red cloth with beveled edges, very dull and slightly rubbed to lower back, ends of front joint slightly opening. f/piece engraving of Brading Curch+ t.p. with engraved head-piece+ 336 (somewhat oddly the Contents page does not provide the paginations for the last 4 stores, only '000)'), numerous head-piece, tail-pieces and decorated initials as well as text illustrations of varying sizes;front gutter opening exposing netting but secure, faint thin trace of water-stain down fore-edges which fades out around p.75,lacking rear black end-paper but p.336 almost certainly final page, ending appropriately, if somberly, with the epitaph on ' Little Jane's Grave' in Brading churchyard. Apparently uncommon miniature children's religious book. It opens with a memoir of the author (1772-1827) and includes one story (of six) 'The Negro Servant ending with 'The Negro's Prayer'. 8 cm x 11 cm.
