Tre racconti lunghi (uno è quasi un romanzo) occupano questo volume centrale dell'Antologia Personale di Isaac Asimov. Il primo comincia così: "Il sergente di polizia Mankiewicz era al telefono e malediceva il momento in cui aveva risposto alla chiamata." La storia s'intitola "Cultura microbica" e Asimov, nella sua introduzione, la definisce: "Qualcosa di molto attuale, ma che resta di pura FS oggi come quando la scrissi nel 1951". La stessa definizione può applicarsi alle altre due storie, "Condotto C" e "Per una buona causa". Quanto al breve racconto che chiude il volume, non è propriamente di FS, ma se si pensa a Sharon Tate e a un certo Manson, è forse più attuale di tutti (con la differenza che Manson "lo sapeva".).
