designed to help readers develop a systematic approach to
recognizing thoracic anatomy, identifying important
imaging patterns, and connecting radiographic findings
with clinical decision-making.
The book begins with the fundamentals of chest imaging,
including X-ray production, digital radiography, radiation
safety, image quality, CT principles, high-resolution CT,
CT angiography, and the growing role of artificial
intelligence in imaging workflow.
From there, readers build a strong foundation in normal
chest anatomy before moving into a reproducible method
for reading chest radiographs. The text covers technical
adequacy, projection, positioning, pulmonary and
mediastinal anatomy, the pleura and diaphragm, and the
systematic ABCDEF approach to chest X-ray
interpretation.
Inside, you will explore:
• Chest X-ray and CT anatomy
• Systematic chest radiograph interpretation
• The silhouette sign and other localization signs
• Airspace disease and air bronchograms
• Atelectasis and lobar collapse patterns
• Bacterial, viral, fungal, opportunistic, and
mycobacterial infections
• Pulmonary nodules and lung cancer
• Interstitial and obstructive lung disease
• Mediastinal masses and lymphadenopathy• Pleural effusion, empyema, pneumothorax, and
pleural pathology
• Pulmonary embolism and pulmonary vascular
disease
• Cardiac and great-vessel findings
• ICU lines, tubes, catheters, and devices
• ARDS and ventilator-associated findings
• Thoracic trauma and emergency chest imaging
• Pediatric chest imaging
• Imaging in pregnancy and special clinical situations
• Artificial intelligence and structured reporting
The manuscript also includes clinical pearls, case vignettes,
comparison tables, interpretation frameworks, and review
questions with explanations to reinforce practical
understanding and pattern recognition. For example, the
book teaches a structured ABCDEF reading routine and
emphasizes the importance of technical adequacy,
systematic search, and avoiding common cognitive errors
during interpretation.
Later chapters extend the discussion into pediatric imaging,
pregnancy, AI-assisted interpretation, structured reporting,
and the development of long-term expertise in chest
imaging. Applied Chest Roentgenology
Video Tutorials Included to complement the written
material and reinforce key chest imaging concepts.
Whether you are a radiology resident, medical trainee,
clinician, or healthcare professional looking to strengthen
your understanding of thoracic imaging, Applied Chest
Roentgenology provides a structured and practical
reference for approaching chest radiographs and CT studies
with greater confidence and consistency.

Store description
**Please note our transit times are from the date of dispatch.** We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first purchase with us, or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book.
