Folio (14 ½ x 9 ½ inches). One-page, approximately 300 words, in part: "You are to account for all Collections & Payments, & pay in all such Moneys as shall be in your hands as the Treasurer shall demand it, according to the Directions of the Act aforesaid, & pursuant to the trust in your reposed." Willard (1681-1756) served in the office of Secretary from his first commission in 1728 until his death in 1756. Despite his long service, manuscript items by Phips are scarce in trade (ABPC records but two in the past 45 years, 1976-2019). Matted, glazed, and framed. A little chipping along the right edge (some loss to a half-dozen letters), but an attractive colonial display manuscript.
