Prose selections include "Under the Bosom Tree" by Anne Tyler and "The Force of Her Happiness" (from "Sophie's Choice") by William Styron; an essay "Two Years Underway: Pages From a Notebook" by Reynolds Price; an interview with William Styron (pages 84-93); and poetry by James Applewhite, Helen Bevington, Fred Chappell, and others.
