Original printed wrappers. Octavo, 9 1/4" x 6." pp. 118 + folding map. Title-page and last leaf browned. Edges of title-page slightly worn, 1/4" open tear to bottom edge, slight paper loss 1/4" upper left-hand corner. 3/4" paper loss to lower left-hand corner of last two leaves. Fore-edge of last half of book lightly crinkled. Interior lightly tanned, with minor foxing. Printed by Edward O. Jenkins. New York. Sharp print on clean paper. (Sabin 36407). The Army of the Potomac was the main army of the Union forces in the Eastern Theater of the American Civil War. After he was banned from serving the French navy, François d'Orléans, Prince de Joinville (1818-1900) offered his services to American Union forces, where he served as staff to Major General George B. McClellan of the Army of the Potomac. In this tract, the Prince de Joinville records his observations on the military techniques of this army. (Wikipedia).
