Synopsis

La publicaci�n que ahora presentamos expresa el valor que la arquitectura universitaria alcanz� en algunos pa�ses, desde el siglo XII, de manera muy especial en Espa�a, hasta el grado de que hoy se nos permita solicitar el emprendimiento de una Plan Nacional de Patrimonio Universitario por parte del Estado, del que Espa�a carece. Muchas ciudades, muchos edificios, colecciones, museos desde la Edad Media hasta nuestros mismos d�as van enriqueciendo nuestras ciudades con campus, construcciones y nuevas instituciones muse�sticas. Las Universidades espa�olas constituyeron un modelo ejemplar para Am�rica, entre ellas de manera muy importante la Universidad creada y dise�ada por el cardenal Cisneros en Alcal� de Henares (1499). Estos ejemplos espa�oles jugaron un papel de fuerte influencia en la historia arquitect�nica, urban�stica, art�stica y cient�fica y buena parte de las universidades iberoamericanas se inspiraron en ellas para recrear sus nuevas sedes. Pero adem�s, la proyectaci�n arquitect�nica universitaria ha seguido creando ideas poderosas en el siglo XX y en el siglo XXI, de forma que imaginativos proyectistas, arquitectos, ingenieros, historiadores etc� han seguido creando funcionales y est�ticos campus que se siguen planteando y desarrollando en todas las ciudades del mundo.
