Small folio. 12-3/4" x 9-7/8" A collection of facsimiles of letters written by famous historical persons [e.g. Catherine II of Russia, Oliver Cromwell, Samuel Pepys, Polydore Vergil, etc.]. The bulk of the reproduced letters are primarily from English personalities, with some French, German, Italian and Latin (with English translations). Uncommon in the trade. Recased. Slight lean. Fading to backstrip & board extremities. A VG copy. Original publisher's blue embossed cloth binding with gilt lettering / decorations to both covers, including the Prince of Wales' arms. Yellow eps.
