Very good. - Octavus Roy Cohen's autograph penned in full on 1-3/8 inch high by 4-1/2 inch wide slip of paper clipped from what appears to be a contract with a signature line on the recto and text printed on the verso. Very good. The early 20th century American author Octavus Roy Cohen (1891-1959) wrote dialect comedy stories about African-Americans. His stories became popular after being published in the Saturday Evening Post. Several were adapted into short films by Al Christie. His stereotype portrayals were unflattering to African-Americans and drew criticism from W.E.B. Du Bois who referred to them as "the monstrosities he has created".
