The AVP Manual for the Second Level Course features a collection of over 112 advanced experiential learning exercises suitable for older teens and adults. Particularly effective when building on the groundwork laid in the Basic Alternatives to Violence Project Manual, this handbook uses circle-learning processes to explore topics related to conflict resolution such as self esteem, affirmation, community building, team building, communication, cooperation, conflict transformation, power, anger, fear and discrimination.
The variety of broadly applicable exercises incorporates participant input to establish the particular focus of the workshop, allowing it to have real meaning to the participants and providing the early foundations of leadership. Because of the scope and flexibility of the Advanced Manual, participants can take multiple Advanced workshops (each with a different focus), increasing awareness and skills each time, plus providing an excellent segue into a lifestyle of utilizing and sharing these meaningful skills and perspectives.
The activities have been collected and developed by the Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP), an international network of organizations providing conflict resolution workshops in prisons, schools and community groups in 36 states and more than 50 countries worldwide for over 35 years. AVP provides three levels of workshop Basic, Advanced and Training for Facilitators. Far more than a problem-solving tool kit, the workshops built on this Manual successfully transform lives and communities in all cultures, as declared by participants and community leaders alike in North and South America, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia and island nations.
For group leadership development as well as those interested in personal conflict resolution, and alternative responses to violence and anger management. Other manuals available in this series: Basic and Youth.
