Laid in are In Mrs. Berry's kitchen on an Oklahoma farm, Gladys Mae meets Merridew, the city slicker, who meets his match in Sis, the tomboy, thereby causing the downfall of Aaron Slick. There follows a charming widow who gets a proposal, a mysterious fellow who spots poetry, discovery of oil on the farm. Aaron goes to Chicago and falls under the spell of The Girl In Red, then back to Oklahoma. Laid in are four 4-page short pieces in the "March's Funny Farces" series, each a complete piece in itself: "The Physical 'Totrture' Club" (1912), "An Up Tp Date Proposal" (1920), "Aunt Jane Visits School" (1920), and "Aunt Jerusha and Uncle Josh" (1912).
