First edition. Octavo; hardcover; 219pp., with a monochrome frontispiece and many illustrations likewise. Moderate wear; a little cocked; spine extremities softened; boards a little rubbed; text block edges toned with some spotting; offset to the endpapers; retailer's bookplate to the front pastedown; previous owner's ink inscription to the flyleaf. Price-clipped dustwrapper has been varnished on the upper and lower panels and spine panel - this addition has yellowed with age; chipping to the spine panel extremities and flap-turns (no loss of text or images); now backed with archival-quality white paper and professionally protected by superior non-adhesive polypropylene film.
