Abnormal Side Effects is a collection of short stories and other works written by Robert J. S. T. McCartney. It also includes the never-before-released novelette The Crystal Manor. Society tends to drown out many of these issues, considering them a lesser concern. Instead, it shoves the lives of celebrities in our faces, promotes unhealthy habits, pushes us down, and desensitizes us. Some individuals even tell those who are suicidal that they "should just kill themselves" and other absurdities.

Many of the stories that follow address depression, family issues, trauma, bullying, and other topics that occur daily in our lives. While these issues may be taboo for people on the street, society often looks the other way and even goes as far as to shame and ostracize those who don't fit the definition of what we consider normal.
