Sources of Revenue That Belong to Charles I Cotton, Sir Robert [1571-1631]. An Abstract Out of the Records of the Tower, Touching the Kings Revenue: And How They Have Supported Themselves. London: Printed for G. Tomlinson, T.A. and A.C., [1642]. [ii], 27, [1] pp. Quarto (7-1/4" x 5-1/"). Stab-stitched pamphlet bound into recent quarter calf over marbled boards, gilt title to spine, edges of text untrimmed. Negligible light rubbing to spine ends, moderate toning to interior, light soiling to title page. $500. * Only edition. Cotton was a Member of Parliament and an important scholar of early English legal and political records. (His vast collection of manuscripts is now the British Museum's Cotton Library.) This pamphlet was published at the time Charles I was pressing Parliament for funds to fight the Bishop's War in Scotland, one of the events that led to the First English Civil War.
