Observations were taken at 09.30 daily and in the same form, thereby providing good understanding of the climate at any one time during the period across the localities surveyed, the specific intention being for understanding of what the troops stationed in the various localities would experience. The observations (typically barometric pressure, temperature ranges and precipitation) are printed by location, the tables followed by observations made locally as to weather experienced, plant growth and prevalence of infectious and other diseases being variously included. The editor, a geologist and FRS was then in the War Office as the Director of the Ordnance Survey and the Topgraphical Department. . . .
