11pp. 12mo. Magdalen Society of Philadelphia was a charitable institution founded in Philaldelphia in 1800 to redeem "fallen women", i.e. largely prostitutes. The Society s stated purpose was "restoring to the paths of virtue those unhappy females who in unguarded hours have been robbed of their innocence." The pamphlet details the deathbed prayers of a woman named Hannah, who had come to the Asylum in 1835 following imprisonment for several years of crime she did not commit.
