The Accuracy of the Old Testament (Paperback or Softback)

"The Accuracy of the Old Testament" is a comprehensive examination of the historical reliability of the Hebrew Bible through the lens of early 20th-century archaeological discoveries. Written by J. Garrow Duncan, a scholar and field archaeologist, the work delves into the intersection of sacred scripture and physical evidence unearthed in the Levant and Egypt.

The text explores various narratives within the Old Testament, comparing biblical accounts with contemporary findings in Palestinian archaeology and Ancient Near Eastern history. Duncan provides a detailed analysis of geography, cultural customs, and monumental remains that support the traditional chronology and historical settings of the biblical patriarchs, the Exodus, and the monarchic periods. By synthesizing the results of excavations with textual analysis, the author seeks to demonstrate that the biblical records are grounded in verifiable historical realities.

This work remains a significant contribution to the history of biblical studies, reflecting a period of intense discovery and the development of the field of biblical archaeology. It offers readers a rigorous defense of the Bible's historical integrity while providing insight into the methods and theories that shaped the scholarly landscape of the early 1930s. Scholars of theology, archaeology, and ancient history will find this volume a valuable resource for understanding the dialogue between faith and material science.
