Sal Ektmi is a pen name that sounds like 'select me'. I am the 3rd of 5 siblings born in St. Louis and raised in Miami by a Cuban mother and Lebanese father. I got recruited to play football for a university in North Carolina, where I also began the pre-med track. My football career ended with a back injury my sophomore year. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BS in biology and minor in chemistry after a total of 7 semesters. I am currently working in a biomedical research lab in Boston and will begin medical school in August.
