At age 62, Jack Fussell laced up his running shoes, packed a stroller named Wilson, and set off on foot from Savannah, Georgia, with one mission: to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s disease in memory of his father.

What followed was a 2,600+ mile journey across America. Alone, without a support crew, Jack ran, jogged, and walked through ten states, stopping at nursing homes, Alzheimer’s Association chapters, media outlets, and small-town diners. He listened to stories of love and loss. He gave out 3,000 purple bracelets. He raised over $27,000 for the Alzheimer's Association. And he made sure the world heard one name over and over: Alzheimer’s.
