Bob Bates was born in South Gate, California, in 1927. In early childhood, he developed a love for art and a passion for painting--both of which continue today. Bates majored in art and advertising at East Los Angeles College and later attended Los Angeles Trade Tech.
Bates' paintings are displayed in many collections. He conducts art demonstrations and workshops throughout the year, and he frequently gives lectures at colleges on advertising and fine art as a profession. Bates and his wife, Valerie, live in Southern California.
