Buckling is a mathematical instability, leading to a failure mode when a structural member is subjected to high compressive stresses. Control of buckling with minimum weight addition is an important requirement in space structures. The main objective of buckling control is in controlling the critical modes and hence improving the load carrying capacity of the structure.
