Active Device Development for Automobiles

This book presents a first hand information guide for developing a smart materials based active device. Beginning with a brief introduction of the smart materials, such as magneto-rheological fluids, and fuzzy rules based modeling concepts, the book describes about the design, fabrication, testing, modeling, verification and application of a smart device to be used in an automobile for steering effort control purposes.

Shankar Sehgal is Asst. Professor in Mechanical Engineering, UIET, Panjab University, Chandigarh, India. He is University Gold Medalist of 2003 batch in B.Tech. (Mech. Engg.) from PTU, Punjab, India. He completed his M.Tech. from IIT Delhi, India in 2005. His research areas are smart materials, FE model updating and mechanical engineering.
