Active flow control (AFC) has emerged as a vibrant research field with significant potential to address a broad spectrum of academic and industrial challenges. Recent developments in actuation technologies and computational/experimental methods, together with the resurgence of machine learning, have positioned AFC to achieve enhanced effectiveness, efficiency, robustness, and intelligence.
