Comprehensive standards are of relatively recent origin. In 1954, the Society of Actuaries promulgated a Guide to Professional Conduct. In 1956, the Conference of Actuaries in Public Practice published its Code of Professional Conduct. Following its founding in December, 1965, the American Academy of Actuaries issued its guide which were modified into a stable form by 1969. The 1970s into 1990s placed greater statutory law liability on actuaries and the need to develop codified guidelines for performing actuarial services thus increased. About 1994, the American Academy of Actuaries undertook the process of codification of actuarial practices for guidance of its members and the general public. This collection contains exposure drafts and adopted guidelines for performance of specific actuarial services through about 2000. Each guideline booklet has page numbering, but no overall numbering as a collection. The collection is in two separate 3-ring binders covering more than 30 areas of practice. This copy was a working copy with changes in versions noted on the more recent versions and has some notes for comments. Carefully maintained, no torn pages nor other extraneous markings found.
