About the Author

Allan H. Ropper, MD, is deputy editor of the New England Journal of Medicine; executive vice-chair of neurology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital; and professor of neurology, Harvard Medical School.

Martin A. Samuels, MD, FAAN, MACP, DSc (Hon), is former chair of the Department of Neurology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital; and professor of neurology, Harvard Medical School.
