This particular volume is a presentation copy, with the authors inscription to the front blank. This being Treatise II of the The Bridgewater Treatise, works on the power wisdom and goodness of God, and the ways in which it manifests throughout creation. The work is one of Natural theology that argues for the existence of God in nature, as apposed to merely religious scripture or doctrine. Written by John Kidd, a physician and chemist who was a proponent of this theology. With the ink inscription to the front blank that reads 'From the Author' with a small round bookplate to the reverse of the front endpaper. The crest bears the Latin phrase 'Sit sine decus labe'. A lovely example of this work, which appears to have been gifted by the author himself. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally bumped to the head and tail of the spine, with loss to the cloth. Bumping to the extremities. Rubbing to the front and rear joints, with a small amount of loss to the cloth.
