Adapting Novels Into Films

The book is focussed on the interface between literature and film. It makes a lively inquiry into the adaptation of masterpiece novels into films. It presents case studies of film versions of three timeless classics from Britain, America and Sri Lanka/ Canada, viz., Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility, Edith Wharton’s The Age of Innocence & Michael Ondaatje’s The English Patient. The book seeks to contribute to the scholarly literature on popular cinema by focusing on films themselves rather than theoretical issues and myriads of complex inter-relations.
