Adding to a House: Planning, Design & Construction

Wenz, a builder and home inspector, has created a useful guide that shows how to remodel a home by adding on. Observing that more money is currently spent on remodeling houses than on building new ones, Wenz points out that most architects and builders have little if any training in this area. He starts with the basic question: Should one add to an existing structure or buy a different house that has the desired features? He progresses to discussing design types and how best to integrate the new areas with the old. He also covers evaluation of the building site and the old structure. Some building techniques are covered, but the author assumes that the reader is experienced in these areas. The illustrations are excellent.
