The address became very popular in the north. Heartman 120, 720: "Blaming the misfortunes of Arkansas on Hindman and Johnson . and viciously attacking Jeff Davis and Judah P. Benjamin, Gantt calls upon his people to admit defeat and resume its position in the Union." Howes G-57. Old library blindstamp, with "duplicate" stamp; a little foxed, but very good.
