Administrative Theories

"Administrative Theory has been an exciting area of the wider field of Public Administration. There have been a number of significant approaches, models, foci and theories that represent and explain administrative phenomena in myriad situations, nations and times. Although most of these conceptual constructs in the field of Public Administration have evolved in the West, particularly in the United States of America, these have been modified and modernized on the basis of empirical experiences gained in the non-Western world. This present anthology deals with issues and concerns of Administrative Theory during the past hundred years. Not only the various approaches and models have been analyzed in the context of their relevance and impact, these have also been juxtaposed with the administrative practices prevalent across the world. In the process of analysis, most eminent thinkers in the realm of Administrative Sciences have been examined in relation to their vision, ideas and critical appreciation of reality. Some of the themes included in the volume are: Organization Theories, New Public Management, Bureaucratic Theory, Development Administration, Comparative Administrative Analysis, Creativity and Leadership. The volume will be found useful to the students, teachers and practitioners of Public Administration and also those who wish to understand the subtle conceptualizations on the process of governance."
