Behind each entry lies a life, a family, a city in motion. Every name tells a story. The Admission Register of the Manchester School, Volume III, records the pupils who entered Manchester Grammar School from May 1807 to September 1837, capturing a pivotal era in early 19th century Manchester as it grew into an industrial powerhouse. As a meticulous historical school register, compiled by Jeremiah Finch Smith, it preserves student admissions and alumni details that illuminate 19th century British schooling and the social fabric that surrounded it. Accompanied by notices of more distinguished schools, this archival reference book becomes an invaluable British local history book for local history researchers, social historians, and anyone tracing family lines. For genealogy research reference, it anchors ancestors in time and place, offering concrete links to Manchester, England, 1807-1837 and to the wider story of Manchester Grammar School history and civic life. Ideal for personal libraries, local studies rooms and anyone curating a serious British school registers collection or Manchester local history collection. Out of print for decades and now republished by Alpha Editions. Restored for today's and future generations. More than a reprint - a collector's item and a cultural treasure. Faithful to the original while presented in a fresh, readable modern edition, this volume appeals equally to casual readers of history, dedicated researchers, and classic-reference collectors who recognise the enduring value of carefully preserved records.
