Unread and unopened! 62pp.ADOLF HITLER QUOTATIONS is translated directly from the German book "HITLERS WOLLEN", which was published in National Socialist Germany in 1935."HITLERS WOLLEN" has the subtitle "Nach Kernsaetzen aus selnen Schriften und Reden", which means "according to key statements from his writings and speeches." The writings come mostly from his main work, MEIN KAMPF. Since MEIN KAMPF is readily available - and should already be in the library of every serious student of the Third Reich - excerpts from it have not been included.Hitler's speeches, however, are less accessible to the English-speaking reader. So here they are.This book is intended simply as a short compilation of Hitler quotations. It is therefore heavily abridged. Individual quotations from the original German book have not, of course, been cut apart. But they have been selected to give a cross section of Hitler's views. And to minimize repetition. Distractive commentary typical of postwar books on this subject is intentionally absent.The translation strives to preserve Hitler's style as much as possible, sometimes even at the expense of good English. After all, these are direct quotes from a historic figure. Also, the German term "Volk" is (here) usually translated as "folk" - instead of the more common English word "people" - in order to stress an ethnic community which shares a common language, a common history and a common culture. The German word "Reich" ("empire") is maintained for the same reason: It refers to the unity of the German folk, not to foreign conquest.The division into chapters is the same as in the original. There is no specific chapter on Jewry, although the second chapter, THE SOCIAL STRUGGLE, contains more references to the Jewish question than the others.Interestingly enough, most of the quotations in the original - and hence here - come from two distinct periods: 1923 (the year of Hitler's abortive "Putsch" attempt to seize power by force on November 9, 1923) and 1933 (the year of the "Machtergrelfung", led to his rise to power by democratic means on January 30, 1933).The forward to the German original was dated the end of January 1935. Victory over the Weimar regime, renunciation of the Versailles treaty, consolidation of power, economic recovery and maintenance of peace were the big Issues.
