Advance Man

Advance Man is a political adventure. Set in the hard-fought early days of the 2008 Democratic primary season, it is a look behind the scenes at the most secretive, yet most public part of American presidential politics—the Advance team that creates and controls the media image of a presidential candidate, as well as everything that happens within a quarter-mile radius.

Steven Jacques grew up on Southside ward politics in the City of St. Louis. He started volunteering at the age of eleven and by the age of twenty-three was serving on the White House staff. He has led hundreds of White House Advance teams throughout the U.S. and abroad and led thousands of presidential campaign Advance teams over thirty-six years in national politics. He served as a presidential appointee in three Administrations, on the White House staff and as a senior official the U.S. State Department and U.S. Department of Commerce.
