Advanced Machining Processes: Innovative Modeling Techniques (Manufacturing Design and Technology)

Modeling and machining are two terms closely related. The benefits of the application of modeling on machining are well known. The advances in technology call for the use of more sophisticated machining methods for the production of high-end components. In turn, more complex, more suitable, and reliable modeling methods are required. This book pertains to machining and modeling, but focuses on the special aspects of both. Many researchers in academia and industry, who are looking for ways to refine their work, make it more detailed, increase their accuracy and reliability, or implement new features, will gain access to knowledge in this book that is very scare to find elsewhere.

Angelos P. Markopoulos received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens in 2006. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the same University. He is the author or co-author of more than 60 papers in international journals and conferences, 1 book and more than 10 book chapters in edited books. His research includes topics such as precision and ultraprecision machining processes with special interest in high speed hard machining, grinding, micromachining and advanced modeling methods and techniques. He is member of the international editorial review board of two journals and a regular reviewer of several journals in the above mentioned areas. He is also member of the Technical Chamber of Greece and the Hellenic Association of Mechanical & Electrical Engineers.J. Paulo Davim

J. Paulo Davim received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in 1997, M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering (materials and manufacturing processes) in 1991, Dipl.-Ing Engineer´s degree (5 years) in Mechanical Engineering in 1986, from the University of Porto (FEUP), the Aggregate title (Full Habilitation) from the University of Coimbra in 2005 and a D.Sc. from London Metropolitan University in 2013. He is Eur Ing by FEANI-Brussels and Senior Chartered Engineer by the Portuguese Institution of Engineers with a MBA and Specialist title in Engineering and Industrial Management. Currently, he is Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Aveiro, Portugal. He has more than 30 years of teaching and research experience in Manufacturing, Materials and Mechanical Engineering with special emphasis in Machining & Tribology. He has also interest in Management & Industrial Engineering and Higher Education for Sustainability & Engineering Education. He has received several scientific awards. He has worked as evaluator of projects for international research agencies as well as examiner of Ph.D. thesis for many universities. He is the Editor in Chief of several international journals, Guest Editor of journals, books Editor, book Series Editor and Scientific Advisory for many international journals and conferences. Presently, he is an Editorial Board member of 30 international journals and acts as reviewer for more than 80 prestigious Web of Science journals. In addition, he has also published as editor (and co-editor) more than 100 books and as author (and co-author) more than 10 books, 60 book chapters and 400 articles in journals and conferences (more than 200 articles in journals indexed in Web of Science/h-index 37+ and SCOPUS/h-index 46+).
