Synopsis
A March 2004 symposium gathered together various groups working on fundamental and applied aspects of hydrogen storage materials, thermoelectronics, magnetic materials, and energy issues related to advanced materials for energy conversion. Papers from the symposium are collected here and deal with metal hydrides, complex hydrides, dynamics of metal hydrides and tritium gettering, magnetic materials and hydrogen permeation, thermodynamics and superconductors, piezoelectric materials, and thermal energy storage and containment materials. Contributions were submitted from universities, research institutes, national laboratories, and industry. Some specific topics include reaction of oxygen with uranium hydride, the influence of Group IVA elements on the magnetostriction of Fe, and reaction of hydrogen with an organic hydrogen getter.
