Book Description

Advanced smart home setups often require more than standard configurations to achieve performance, security, and flexibility. This book helps electronics engineers and advanced home automation enthusiasts extend Home Assistant with deeper control over devices, networks, and integrations.

You’ll begin with performance tuning and advanced YAML and Jinja2 configurations, then move on to secure network design using Zigbee and cloud integration with Golioth. You’ll build custom IoT devices with ESPHome, use MQTT for communication, and develop ESP32-based touchscreen displays and camera systems.

By the end of this book, you will also have covered advanced automation patterns using Node-RED and AppDaemon, along with AI-driven techniques to analyse user behaviour and optimize automation workflows. Written by an expert with over 25 years of experience, this book provides practical methods to design, secure, and scale modern smart home systems.
