This volume was dedicated on the centenary of his birth to Sir Hans A. Krebs who gave the Special Symposium lectures for 15 years. George Weber spoke on the joint work he carried out in Oxford with Krebs and his associates, entitled "Cancer and Clinical Targeting."

Much of the Symposium centered on novel aspects of signal transduction, including Inositol Signaling and on phosphatidylinositol 3'kinase and kinase B.
